The thing about Hendrix was the uniqueness of the chops: they’re not technically hard to do, it’s just that nobody thinks of doing them that way. If a guitar player analyzed his lines, he’d see that Hendrix plays each one just a little bit differently from the norm. He doesn’t do the habitual licks, or if he does, he changes a note here and there. What Jimi did was years ahead of his time - It’s been years since he wrote “Purple Haze”. His music was not jive; it was coming from a very real place - it’s the music of the heavens. I wish that guitar players would realize that Jimi Hendrix . . .
