I thought that was every bit as important as the guitar playing. As time went on I realized just how close-knit the two were: his guitar playing was really an extension of his voice. When he sang “If 6 Was 9” you had to believe that the guy really meant that he didn’t care what anybody else thought. With all the voodoo and magic and other-worldly stuff he refers to in his songs, you really get the feeling that he believed he was from another planet. |
