Even though I play bass, Jimi’s effect on me was very deep, and for one very important reason: Jimi ignored the barriers. After hearing him I felt free to close my eyes and let my hands scream for me like his did. Jimi’s technique must truly be heard to be understood. It is difficult to describe in words the feeling of hundreds of watts darting through your body - all dependent on the simple motion of your fingertips. A delicate balance for sure - like walking on a tightrope - one slip and the feedback is out of control. And it all comes out in the music. “One Rainy Wish”, “Waterfall”, “1983”, and “Moon Turn . . .
