. . . Another generation has come up, people who are turned on by a lot of technique, and they say, "Oh, his guitar is out of tune," or whatever. Well, they didn't have locking tremolos back then. I don't think anyone can mess with his songs or guitar playing. There's nobody right now who has a context that's as timeless or as strong. He's talking about being himself and being beyond the fashion of the times. That is exactly what he accomplished. People who don't see the whole of what he managed to do will never understand why he's still current. I don't think it's because of mythology.
