Tiran Porter Tiran Porter

Jimi Hendrix occupied a large space in the listening that was my musical learning. He was the first to take rock into outer and inner space. It was total experimentation - the sound was the thing. His playing only really started to recieve wide public attention in the last two years of his life. His sound was that of an acid trip come to life, and, since that particular mode of experience was “in” at the time, people could identify with having heard that sound before in their heads. Hendrix moved me with an intensity that I think nobody but musicians have been able to feel since his death.
