. . . I went to see Hendrix perform in 1967 and I swear to you, I literally did not believe he was really playing what I heard coming out of the speakers. If you think Hendrix sounds amazing now, put yourself into our situation back then: Everybody was singing about flowers and had the worst guitar sounds you could ever imagine.
