Hendrix was the antithesis of my influences when I started playing guitar. I was more into punk rock. I started listening to him four or five years ago-more for the production techniques and sounds. On top of being a phenomenal guitar player, he had a lot of cool studio ideas and used effects creatively. The sounds he used are as much a part of why he's great as his playing technique. The greatest artists know the rules and how to break them. Unfortunately, part of the punk thing was "Don't even learn the rules," and that's why . . . |
